Sugar Cookies with Glaze Frosting

Ingredients

  • ## Cookie
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ## Frosting
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3-4 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons clear Karo syrup

Instructions

  1. Combine flour and salt with a wire whisk.
  2. Cream butter and sugar. Add flour mixture and blend on low until combined. Do not overmix
  3. Gather dough into a ball. Flatten the ball into a disk and wrap tightly in plastic wrap or a plastic bag. Refrigerate 1 hour until firm.
  4. On a floured surface, Roll dough to 1/4" thickness, cut with cookie cutters then place on ungreased sheets.
  5. Bake at 325°F for 13-15 minutes. Do not brown.
  6. Transfer to cool surface.
  7. Stir frosting ingredients until smooth. Add food coloring if desired.
