Soft Breadsticks

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 1½ cups warm water
  • 2 tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 1¼ tsp salt
  • 4½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp. water
  • Coarse salt or margarita salt

Instructions

  1. Combine yeast, salt, water, and sugar; stir and let sit 5 minutes.
  2. Gradually stir in flour to make smooth dough.
  3. Knead on floured surface 8–10 minutes.
  4. Divide into 28 pieces and roll into an approximate 8"x1/4" inch sticks.
  5. Place on greased baking sheet.
  6. Mix egg and water; brush over sticks and sprinkle with salt.
  7. Cover and let rise 25 minutes.
  8. Bake at 425°F for 15–20 minutes until brown.
